Recently I've been trying to become a part of youth groups and become, basically, a Muslim activists. I'm a Muslim youth, plus being female, I don't know why that just makes it a bit harder. For example, if I am ever going to gain enough confidence to speak publicly, well for some reason it just seems easier for a guy. Actually this is the problem I am faced with...lacking confidence. I'm open to suggestions on how to gain enough confidence to be a good speaker. Also, in your opinion, what are the skills that a good leader must have? And does a leader have to speak in a certain way to gain the attention of the youth? How does he/she become "likeable" so that people will actually be HAPPY about going to his/her lectures instead of "yeah w/e my mom forced me". I know how to get involved, this isn't much of a problem...it's the lack of confidence that bothers me. And I've always believed in "practice makes perfect", but are there specific skills that I can try to obtain in order to become a successful Muslim leader, as well as activist and all the while be likeable? I've seen this in a few speakers, in fact not many, probably because it's not as easy as it sounds. Talk is cheap and a lot of Muslim youth today need to step up and actually DO SOMETHING. But first I'd say they'd need the required skills. Any comments on this?
